The Gateway Cities Council of Governments (Gateway Cities COG) region has a very dynamic and diverse workforce. With a regional median age of 33 years and labor force of approximately 1 million people, the region is perfect for employers with all types of staffing needs.
Employment
As of 2010, manufacturing remains the single largest employment sector in the Gateway Cities COG region, with slightly more than 15% of jobs. Retail trade was the second largest sector with approximately 11.6% of regional employment. Rounding out the top five employment sectors are (3) health care and social assistance (10.5%), (4) education services (9.4%), and (5) wholesale trade (9%).
