West Santa Ana Branch

The Gateway Cities subregion is a transit dependent area with little access to light rail service. The West Santa Ana Branch is the COG’s highest-priority transit project. This new light rail project will connect Artesia, Cerritos, Bellflower, Paramount, Downey, South Gate, Cudahy, Bell, Huntington Park, Vernon, and unincorporated Florence-Firestone to downtown Los Angeles. The West Santa Ana Branch is projected to open in 2035. The Gateway Cities Council of Governments has engaged in advocacy on the local, state, and federal levels to ensure that the project is fully funded and will be completed by the projected date.

Eco-Rapid Transit is a separate joint powers authority (JPA) created to pursue development of an environmentally friendly, reliable, and seamless transit system that connects the communities between Hollywood Burbank Airport, downtown Los Angeles, and the southeast region of Los Angeles County.
