The Bison has been officially declared the national mammal, but it’s not every day you get a chance to see one of these majestic creatures.
Unless, that is, you happen to be on Catalina Island off the California coast of southeastern Los Angeles County. At some point the island’s history, a Hollywood film crew left behind a handful of buffalo that have grown over the years into a healthy herd.
Today, Catalina boasts a wide variety of attractions and entertainments—as well as 62 miles of publicly accessible undeveloped coastline, preserved forever by a conservancy. Learn more about the island at http://ow.ly/q7rW300fEqQ.
