Driven to distraction?

Traffic is bad—and getting worse. That’s the conclusion of many observers of the US highways. And if you’ve driven a freeway lately, you’ve probably experienced it firsthand.

It seems counter-intuitive, but simply building new highways or adding lanes just doesn’t work. We don’t need our transportation network to be bigger; we need it to be smarter. (Here are a few ideas on the subject: .)
