Teaming up to tackle traffic woes

“In just a couple more days they’re going to close the freeway, and you won’t be able to go anywhere on the 405. As opposed to when it’s open and you can’t go anywhere on the 405.” ~Jay Leno
Leno’s tongue in cheek quote is an unfortunate reality for residents in SR-91/I-605/I-405 corridor cities such as Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, Compton, Downey, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, Long Beach, Norwalk, Paramount, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, Whittier and the County of Los Angeles.
But a joint approach to transportation planning can help solve some the region’s traffic issues. “Hot spot” areas of heavy congestions have been identified and plans for improvements, which utilize intelligent transportation systems, are in the works.
