EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT

Educational Attainment on the part of regional residents has shown improvement since 2000. Specifically, the percentages of residents who graduated from high school, college, and graduate school have all increased. Over the same period, the percentage of residents who have failed to finish high school decreased.

Major Education Institutions

There are a number of quality educational institutions in the Gateway Cities COG region, including (but not limited to) Whittier College, California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), Cerritos College, El Camino College Compton Center (formerly Compton College), Long Beach City College, Rio Hondo College.  These schools cater to diverse student populations and provide valuable undergraduate, graduate, and technical educational and training opportunities through superior teaching, research, and hands-on learning programs.  Available degree programs include Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate’s.  These degree programs span a variety of academic and professional disciplines, including: Arts, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Health & Human Services, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Nursing, among others.
