The wonders of walking

Why is it so important to have a walkable city? Well apart from the obvious health benefits, there are economic and environmental benefits too.

Here in southeastern Los Angeles county, creating a vibrant street culture for pedestrians and cyclists—along with abundant green space—has become an increasing priority. In the city of Cudahy, for instance, widespread community surveys and workshops led the city to adopt a new General Plan Update that vastly improves pedestrian access and open space in the city.
