Studies have shown people with access to green space and waterways are healthier and happier. Parks provide a space to relax and recreate, while trees and plants help filter air pollution and mediate temperature.

The Gateway Cities Council of Governments sponsored legislation to create the San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy, which promotes open space for recreation as well as watershed health and habitat conservation in eastern Los Angeles County and western Orange County.

The Conservancy is a positive force working to protect and enhance the region’s unique and diverse natural environment, for the enjoyment of residents for years to come. It is responsible for bringing millions of state grant dollars to the region for parks and trails.
